If this is your first visit, please check out My First Post, and the Mission Details to find out what MissionToTrade is all about!
I was sitting at work having lunch one day… and I was obviously quite bored at the time. I have thought for many years I wonder whether I could trade item for item and get a better deal each time… mostly for fun. To be honest for me it started out as “I wonder if I could get someone to trade me $1 for $2 or so, and just see how many people I could get to trade”. However that not being the most practical of ideas, and being Inspired by Kyle MacDonald who managed to do OneRedPaperclip, I thought heck lets give something a go.
Funnily enough sitting on my desk for a week has been a 600ml bottle of Diet Coke. All my friends will know that at any point in the day I will *usually* have a Diet Coke with me. So I thought heck… lets start with that.
As I was sitting there thinking I remembered that one of my workmates likes Diet Coke so I went to have a chat with her and in an instant she was on board. So that is where it begins, below is a summary of the mission details these may change as the mission progresses but we will see how it goes:
Mission Rules:
- The mission begins on 8th of May 2008 and will conclude on the 8th of May 2009 unless extended by me.
- Trades can be made either over the internet or in person. In the case of over the internet trades an item must be received by me before I will send the traded item.
- Items can be tangible or non-tangible (tangible being things such as a guitar, non-tangible things such as shares etc).
- No money (cash) will be exchanged as part of trades it is to be strictly based on barter for goods, services etc.
- All trades are final.
Why?
Now I know many people will be sitting there wondering… “Why on earth would you do this… You must have motivation”. Of course this is true, I do have motivation, the first was that I was bored and this is something that I really wanted to give a shot. The second was that I love to meet new people, hear new stories and gain new experiences of my own and I thought this would be a great way to do that.
Also, I would love to see where I can end up. What I can turn a bottle of my favourite drink into. I may end up with only one trade, I honestly don’t know, but that is half the fun of the journey.
If you have any specific questions please by all means pop over to the Contact Me page and drop me a line there as I get regular questions I will develop an FAQ page to list the most common ones there.
