How is it going?

If this is your first visit, please check out My First Post, and the Mission Details to find out what MissionToTrade is all about!

Heya everyone,
I apologise for not being around, I was at training for a week for work and have been ill with the flu for a week and a half, so I have not had a chance to really promote this or look for someone to trade with.

However please rest assured I hope to find someone to trade with within the next fortnight. If you know anyone please feel free to let them know about the site and the current Keyboard and Mouse Duo that is on offer.

Trade 2 - Microsoft Keyboard & Mouse for Golf Balls

The word of my mission seems to now be spreading around work (and little by little around the Internet too). The manager of the IT Support Centre spoke to me today and let me know that he had a Microsoft Wired Desktop 500 Keyboard and Mouse set that he was willing to trade. The keyboard is brand new (only taken out of the box once), but it turns out that although the Mouse is USB, the keyboard is PS2 only. However so that this is not a problem I have tucked into the box a PS2 to USB converter so this won’t be an issue for the person who decides to trade for it.

The keyboard has an array of hotkeys including audio control, one touch email, calculator and My Computer keys, and the has a Spill-Resistant design. And the Optical Mouse is comfortable for either left or right handed people. For the full details please see this Technical Sheet PDF.

Here are a couple of pictures I have taken:

So, now we have a Microsoft Keyboard and Mouse set on offer. So far we have gone from a $3 Diet Coke, to a $13.99 Pack of Golf Balls, to a $39.95 Keyboard and Mouse Set. Not bad for only the first week on the mission.

This is a great item to jump on board and grab, somehow I don’t think it will be around all that long at this rate. So if you are interested and want a nice new keyboard and mouse get in touch with me via the Contact Me Page.

So while we are here, tell me your thoughts, how do you think I am doing so far and what sort of items would you like to see me trade for?

Trade 1 - Diet Coke for Golf Balls

Do you want a 12 pack of Dunlop Meteor Golf Balls that come with a story to tell? Well then… I have great news everyone… As of 2 hours ago we have our first trade. As mentioned in my initial post, my good friend June who is the web designer where I work was the first person to agree to trade with me. So here is what happened, I approached June with my idea and she was instantly on board. She was thinking and thinking about what to get or what she could possibly trade and she decided on a single golf ball. June had the idea as she wanted something that she thought someone would find useful or enjoyable and that this person could use.

While she and I were out shopping for the golf ball, we made a sad realisation… Golf balls only come in packs… not on their own (unless you are looking for the $75+ pro balls). However we went to K-Mart and found just the thing that we thought someone might find useful and here it is:

Dunlop Meteor Golf Balls: Back

So in the first trade I have managed to turn a Diet Coke into a 12 Pack of Dunlop Meteor Golf Balls. That is something that is over quadruple the value of the original Diet Coke… not at all bad for a first trade. So a hugely MASSIVE thanks go out to June for her excellent trade and supporting me in my crazy mission.

Where To From Here?

So do you want a pack of 12 golf balls, that I hope will have a story behind them for years to come… If you do, and you have something that is either bigger or better or both… then by all means have a quick read of the Mission Details if you have not already, and then Drop Me a Line on the Contact Me Page. I am very much willing to sign one of the balls if you would like to keep one as a memento. Otherwise if you know someone that might be interested please let them know about this page. As a note by using the menu on the top right of this page, you can share this blog with other people through many different methods so please take a look.

The mission has now begun… where it will end, I don’t really think anyone knows.

And So It Begins!

Diet Coke

What do you get when you cross a bored geek, with a dream and a bottle of Diet Coke? Easy… you get MissionToTrade.com

This idea has been something that I have wanted to do for quite a while, inspired by Kyle from OneRedPaperclip I decided that I just had to give this a go to see where I ended up, to see who I could meet and to all around just have a bit of fun and to see if an Auzzie can follow in Kyle’s footsteps.

To the left you will see a bottle of Diet Coke. As I was sitting at work bored today I wondered if I could trade it for something bigger and better than the Diet Coke. With this in mind I spoke to one of my colleagues who I know loves her Diet Coke just as much as me and she was in on the idea straight up.

So, I am not sure what I will be getting in return as of yet, she will be bringing the item to work in the next couple of days. Keep an eye on this blog as I am willing to trade with anyone, anywhere. If the item you are offering has a story behind it then that is awesome as it will make things that much more fun.

I have limited means of travel, I am 22 and don’t drive. I am happy to travel anywhere in Sydney, Australia for trades (possibly to other major cities in Australia depending), else if you would like to pay for transport to and from anywhere else I am up for that too, otherwise trades will be done via post. For more details see the Mission Details page.

How the exact logistics work will vastly depend, but by all means if you have an idea, a suggestion or a comment please drop me a line on the Contact Me page.

If you would like to know more about me check out the About Me page on my other blog SecludedHabitat.

At this stage the mission will be running for 365 days and there is a countdown timer to the left indicating time left for trades. So… if you know someone that would get a laugh out of this, or if you know someone that will be heading down under to Sydney, Australia please let them know about this, drop them an email, tell them in person or tell them on Facebook let them join in the fun too. The more people I get to meet in person the merrier I will be.

We will see where the first trade takes us tomorrow.

Stuart ;)
